Week 2

Tuesday 3/3, session 4

Lectorial this morning was really interesting. Notes:
Speech and visual communication are parallel and often interdependent means to explain each other.
We went through the FADP'S (Contrast, Line & Shape, Movement & Visual Flow, Balance, Scale & Proportion, Rhythm, Perspective & Depth).
Visual language conveys ideas, beliefs, attitudes, emotions and expressions through; TYPE, IMAGE, MEDIA, and COMPOSITION.
Visual language employs grids to develop; VISUAL FLOW, TYPOGRAPHIC HIERARCHY, POS/NEG SPACE.
Aesthetics = pleasing to the eye - this is dependent on your culture/taste.
Aestherics = immediate feelings the design evokes.
Style = period, movement, sub-culture
Style = consider style in relation to appropriateness
Style = can mean consistancy to an approach of composition and imagery
There was also a really good example of this consistency but I couldn't find it, but I did think this similarly represented the idea

Back in class we were continuing work on our visual matrix' and composition exercise. Because I hadn't yet been out to my locations I was frustratingly unable to do these activities so instead I prepped some pages so that when I got to my locations that afternoon I was able to fill in and record everything I would need.

This afternoon I hit up my outdoor locations; the picnic spot and the sunset spot.
These are my notes from each spot:
Percy's Reserve (Picnic)

William's Park (Sunset)

 I got lots of good photos and feel like I now need to look into the shapes/lines/symbols I can use to reflect the locations.

I am planning to hit my two other locations (Lighthouse Cinema Cuba, and the Motel Bar) tomorrow night.
