Week 3

Monday 9/3, session 5

Lectorial on Visual Cues
-pattern & texture
-create pattern and texture by using simple black and white shapes - abstractify them
-colour has an immediate impact on how an image is viewed - the eye notices warm colours first. Cool colours recede.
-sensual colour palette - reds, oranges, pinks, warm deep colours
-hierarchy is critical to how an image interpreted.

We completed an exercise looking at pattern and writing down our response/emotions to them.

I then proceeded to continue with my own work. I created colour palettes from each location, and worked more on compositions.
We printed out the compositions we had worked on and did a 'peer review'.
Joyce reviewed the few compositions I had done:

The feelings she was coming up with weren't quite what I am trying to portray for brochure.
Speaking to Fay - she suggested the need to inject red.

I continued with my compositions after class as I felt I needed to "catch up". But I am struggling to try and find a style that I like and can apply to all my locations.

I have been trying to create some pattern following the lectorial this morning:

Here are the collages I have been playing with this evening:
